We are glad to share with you the latest report of the Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights, Ms. Alexandra Xanthaki, which focuses on “Development and cultural rights: the international governance”. The report is available in all UN languages on this page, under the number A/78/213. It is also available on the website of the mandate. All submissions received and further information on the report are published on the report page. The Special Rapporteur will be presenting her reports to UN General Assembly this week, on Wednesday 18 October, tentatively at 4 pm, New York time (10 pm CET). The first Golden Panda International Cultural Forum kicked off on Wednesday in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province in southwest China.... Jointly held by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the provincial government of Sichuan, the forum gathers over 300 guests from home and abroad, with in-depth discussions on topics such as implementing the Global Civilization Initiative.

In recent weeks, there has been a significant focus on cultural employment in different parts of the world. In late August in India, G20 Culture Ministers made a call to action, urging the integration of decent work goals into ongoing and future cultural policies. They call for adequate remuneration systems, comprehensive social protection, and support for transition to the formal economy where relevant. Additionally, the importance of a just transition to the digital environment is highlighted, along with the need for increased investments in skills training, technical assistance, and lifelong learning opportunities, particularly crucial for women, youth, and marginalised or vulnerable groups within the cultural and creative sectors (CCSs).
