Our client, the Cleveland Center for Contemporary Art (CCCA), is a vital producer and leader among contemporary visual art centers in the United States. The Center develops exhibitions that present innovative themes, highlighting challenging artists of our time, and strategically focuses on new work by contemporary masters. It has a reputation among artists for encouraging innovation and makes clear contributions to scholarly dialogue through original publications. The center produces innovative public as well as interdisciplinary programs that invite dialogue about contemporary culture, politics, aesthetics and the traditions of visual art. The mission of the organization is to challenge, inspire, teach and delight a wide range of audiences and push the boundaries of innovation, creativity and exploration through exhibitions, publications, education and outreach programs. The Deputy Director works in close partnership with the Executive Director in planning and executing an ambitious agenda for the Center with the goal of furthering its educational and artistic mission. The Deputy Director serves as a liaison between all of the Center''s operational departments establishing and managing the communication and activities to integrate the artistic programs with other Center functions. Overall Responsibilities * Oversee and directly manage the Center''s fund raising efforts and will supervise a full-time Membership and Development Manager, a part-time Development Assistant, freelance grant writer, and an administrative assistant who also supports the Executive Director. * Coordinates long range and operational strategic planning including planning and managing activities that will increase private philanthropic and public support of the CCCA, as well long range institutional planning and the management of activities related to the anticipated growth of the organization. * Serve as Acting Director in the Executive Director''s absence, and when appropriate, serve as a spokesperson for the Center representing the institution in numerous external affairs. * Work closely with the Director and the Director of Finance to provide oversight to the Center''s operation and capital budgets to help ensure the sound financial condition of the Center. This includes the planning and implementation of all operational and budgetary aspects of the organization. Candidate Qualifications * Bachelor''s degree required. Master''s degree preferred or commensurate experience in museum or other cultural arts organization. * Minimum five years successful experience in fundraising with three years experience in the cultivation and solicitation of larger philanthropic commitments. * Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact successfully and over a long period of time with individuals of affluence and influence. * Knowledge and successful experience with a wide range of solicitation techniques and other fundraising skills combined with successful history of working with board committees. * A willingness to manage diverse and frequently changing assignments with a positive attitude and sense of humor in a high task work environment. * Results oriented self-starter with enthusiasm, initiative, professional presence, quality mindedness, focus and ability to work independently in a dynamic, educational and cultural institution.
