The Colorado Council on the Arts (CCA) seeks a Deputy Director to manage all financial and administrative operations of state arts agency. Starting salary of $4,758-5,000 per month, depending on qualifications, plus Colorado State Employee benefits package. Some travel throughout the state and evening and weekend work is required. Position in based is Denver, CO. Major responsibilities include management of the Council''s day-to-day operations, including coordination of financial and information technology systems. The Deputy Director oversees agency''s fiscal operations, including budget planning and financial reporting, accounting, and contracting. In the absence of the Executive Director, s/he assumes all supervisory responsibilities and agency liaison functions. Directs agency''s administrative unit, supervising two employees who support all agency programs and services. Oversees implementation of data management systems, including electronic grants management. Serves as agency information officer for media and outside agency inquiries. Directs the coordination and implementation of information technology systems, including computer and telecommunications systems. Qualifications Five years of progressively responsible experience in supervision or professional level work related to management of a program, section or unit responsible for development of program rules and policies, long and short-range goals and plans, program evaluation and budgeting. A bachelor''s degree in business, finance or public administration. Advance degreed preferred, but not required. Experience in financial management and budgeting of $1 million+ organization or program. Familiarity with information technology systems. An equivalent combination of education and comparable experience will also be considered. Knowledge and Ability The ideal candidate will possess well-developed ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, demonstrated organizational and administrative skills, as well as knowledge of arts disciplines, trends and issues in the arts. S/he must have experience supervising the work of others and the ability to create an effective working environment. S/he must evidence problem-solving capabilities, planning and organizing skills, and computer and telecommunications knowledge. Proficiency in managing multiple tasks is important.
