Creative Directors

The Arts Council of England Creative Partnerships,
25 February 2002, United Kingdom

Creative Partnerships is set to be one of the most significant culture and education programmes in a generation. Starting in April 2002, Creative Partnerships is designed to create new and sustainable ways of including young people at school in the cultural life of their communities, nurturing their innate creativity and supporting teachers, artists, cultural and creative organisations and individuals to work with them. This is a pioneering £40 million, two-year pilot which will be developed in 16 locations across England and will be delivered through close partnership working. The aspiration is to establish Creative Partnerships more broadly from 2004 onwards. We are looking for a 'magician' or 'alchemist' to deliver Creative Partnerships in each location. As Creative Director you will have responsibility for establishing and developing an ambitious, focussed, exciting and risk-taking programme of activity. You should have a clear understanding of effective partnership working, the ability to inspire individuals and organisations, strong leadership, co-ordination and advocacy skills and an awareness of the rich contemporary educational and cultural landscape. We are inviting applications for Creative Directors in the following locations: Durham/Sunderland, Tees Valley, Kingston-upon-Hull with Barnsley/Rotherham /Doncaster, Merseyside, Manchester/Salford, Nottingham, The Black Country, Birmingham, Inner London East, Inner London South, Kent, Slough, and Cornwall. Posts for Bristol and Norfolk will be advertised later. This is a fixed term contract to 31 October 2004 with a salary,to be negotiated, between £28,000 and £40,000. As well as individual applicants Creative Partnerships welcomes approaches from organisations and will consider secondment arrangements if appropriate.
