South Africa announces new writers' grants

The National Arts Council of South Africa has announced a new literature initiative in the form of ten grants, each worth R40,000, to assist in the development of new creative works by South African writers. The grants will be offered annually for the next three years. To be considered, applicants must have been actively involved in creative writing practice for at least five years, and have had work published in recognised publications. Applications should include at least one letter of recommendation from a person with ‘literary expertise’, a list of at least four published works, and a project proposal or draft outlining work to be completed within the next year.
