Client Profile The Festival of Arts in the beautiful city of Laguna Beach, California is world renowned for the Pageant of the Masters, a spectacular stage production of living art creations and the Fine Arts exhibit featuring a community of over 160 artists. Summary As the leader of the management team, the Executive Director plays a dynamic role in the formulation and promotion of the Festival of Arts identity and plays a vital part in strategic planning as well as providing overall leadership by creating synergy between all Festival divisions including box office, marketing, operations, administration, membership, production, exhibits, accounting, security, and special events. General Description This position plays a dynamic leadership role in the formulation and promotion of the Festival of Arts identity. Under direction of the Board, develops strategic plans for development and implementation of Festival of Art''s goals and objectives through furtherance of the mission statement. Oversees day-to-day operations of Festival of Arts. Ensures implementation of policies, objectives and initiatives. Responsible for maintaining management effectiveness, quality of service as well as professional and technical knowledge. Leadership Role in Identification Takes a leadership role in creating brand identification for the Festival of Arts in collaboration with the Board, the Director of Marketing, the Pageant Director and Exhibits Director. Promotes positive company image through interaction/collaboration with local city government, community organizations, staff and patrons. Strategic Planning Under direction from the board, formulates overall Festival business plan. Establish short/long-term goals, determine priorities. Business plan to include budgets, results and measurement tools. Allocates resources. Reviews progress, makes required corrections. Studies technological and financial opportunities to achieve plan. Responsible for all Festival of Arts (day-to-day) operations. Ensures optimal use of resources. Ensures coordination of efforts by overseeing procurement, production, marketing and technical services, policies and practices, ensures coordination between department heads. Maintain and Develop Management Effectiveness Provide operational expertise to the leadership team in a way that creates synergy between all divisions, including creative groups and operations. Coordinates communications among departments. Communicates company values, strategies and objectives, assigns accountabilities, assists in goal setting, monitors and appraises job results, develops incentives, develops a climate for offering information and opinions, provides educational opportunities. Coaches and counsels. Maintains Quality of Service Establishes and enforces organizational standards. Assures compliance with all federal and state regulations. Ensures continuity of long-term building and construction projects. Desired Qualifications Proven creative leadership ability. Understanding of branding and the ability to generate strong concepts based on brand and business strategies; concepts to staff and board members. Requires the ability to work with all levels of communicate those management, staff, artists, volunteers etc. Familiarity with systems and organizational concepts, outstanding oral and written communication. Must be capable of operating on a cost-effective basis within the framework of policies, objectives, and budgets established by the Board of Directors. Ability to lead multiple projects at the same time. A Bachelor''s degree in Business, Marketing or Arts/Administration or related field with 7 ?" 10 years senior managerial experience. Minimum 2 - 4 years prior experience in an arts or cultural institution. Solid knowledge of e-mail, Microsoft Office programs. Prior exposure to business planning, P&L, budgets.
