23 May 2002, South Africa

The second edition of the South African Handbook on Arts and Culture was launched in April, in response to numerous local and international requests for an updated version. First published in 1998, by Article 27 Arts and Culture Consultants with the assistance of Nedbank, the Arts and Culture Trust and Business and Arts South Africa, the handbook is billed as the most important and comprehensive source of information on arts and culture in post-1994 South Africa. It provides contacts across all arts disciplines, and includes funding agencies, private sector sponsors, foreign embassies, various media, educational institutions, arts festivals, awards and competitions, as well as relevant politicians and officials. The new version of the handbook, complied and edited by Performing Arts Network South Africa’s Mike van Graan and Tammy Ballantyne, is available in major bookstores throughout South Africa or may be ordered from David Phillip Publishers, email [email protected] Further information regarding the handbook is available by emailing Mike [email protected] or Tammy [email protected]
