The Board of the Canada Council for the Arts, chaired by Jean-Louis Roux, will visit the regional areas of Whitehorse and Dawson City on August 27-31, for a series of meetings and activities aimed at both the arts communities and the general public. Accompanying the Board will be Canada Council Director Shirley Thomson, and senior Council staff including Ms. Profeit-LeBlanc, the council’s Aboriginal Arts Co-ordinator, who will be present for the Whitehorse portion of the visit. Throughout the duration of its working sessions, the board will be addressing grant approvals, budget matters and policy and program issues. It will also take advantage of its visit to the regions, to meet with the arts community and participate in a wide range of events and activities. In addition to the standard Board related activities, the Council will also hold two general information sessions for artists across all disciplines, as well as grant-writing workshops for visual artists.
