The Australia Council initiative, fuel4arts.com, has become one of the fastest growing international online communities, after having recorded a 924% growth in membership over the past two years, according to a statement from the council. fuel4arts.com now has 8000 members in 94 countries. The website, originally launched in 1998, is a professional development resource for arts marketers and artists from around the world. It offers networking opportunities and marketing advice, opportunities for members to publish arts marketing case studies, participate as guest specialists in online audience development forums, engage in email discussions, and promote collaborative business opportunities via a message board. Executive Director of the Australia Council's Audience and Market Development Division, Karilyn Brown, suggests that the diverse range of resources and opportunities offered by fuel4arts is a reason for its popularity. '[The site] is more than a marketing resource,' she comments. 'It provides a relationship-based approach to marketing, overcoming the isolation and constraints of time and resources facing many artists and art marketers.' While fuel4arts resources are restricted to members, site membership is free and applications are processed online immediately. MORE INFO: www.fuel4arts.com
