Canada’s Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) has announced the release of a new report entitled Face of the Future, A Study of Human Resource Issues in Canada’s Cultural Sector. The report examines key issues in the Human Resources sector, including employment status, recruitment and retention, access to training and demand for new competencies. Environmental issues, such as new technologies, public policy, globalisation and demographics, are also considered. Funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage and Human Resources Development Canada, and managed by CHRC, the study was carried out under the direction of a steering committee of senior artists and cultural workers from across the country. The study is qualitative, and the findings based on a broad international literature review, and on interviews with 175 artists and cultural workers from across Canada.
