French Minister for Culture and Communication, Jean-Jacques Aillagon, will visit Beijing from December 1-4 to participate in the Europe Asia Forum, Unity Within Diversity. Aillagon will play a key role in the first Europe-Asia meeting to tackle cultural diversity on a political level. The Minister is also looking to develop cooperation between France and China in cinema and audiovisual domains, and planning actions that could lead to better distribution of French films and audiovisual programs on the Chinese market, as well as the participation of China in the Cannes Film Festival. In conjunction, the Minister, accompanied by a delegation of artists and cultural professionals, will discuss the scheduling of the Chinese Year in France and the projects envisaged for the Year of France in China (opening October 2004).
