New Film Festival For Learning Disabled

Arts Council England are lending a helping hand with a new film festival, set to provide more opportunities for artistic expression for the learning disabled. The Council has worked in close collaboration with learning disability arts organisation Carousel and community filmmakers Junk TV to create Oska Bright - a film festival for the learning disabled and their stories. It is hoped the initiative will further raise awareness of learning disabilities across the nation and use cinema as a tool to directly address issues that affect those afflicted. Organisers are currently inviting film makers with learning disabilities to contact them for an entry pack. Prizes will be awarded and learning disabled filmmakers will have the chance to get professional feedback and exposure for their works. The festival event itself, which will be part of the popular British Cine-City festival, will be held on 29th November in Brighton. For further information, CLICK HERE.
