Arts Council England has released a number of reports from its New Audiences Programme, including final reports on the Programme, and reports on new audiences and social inclusion. The New Audiences Programme was established to encourage as many people as possible, from all backgrounds and every walk of life, to participate in and benefit from the arts. Arts Council England invested £20 million in the Programme over five years from 1998 to 2003. 1. Reports on the New Audiences Programme Arts Council England has produced four publications as part of reporting back on the five-year New Audiences Programme. In addition to the final report, there is an executive summary of the final report together with a Summary of Projects, and an advocacy document highlighting the key findings and successes of the Programme. The reports can be downloaded HERE. 2. The Art of Inclusion: A report on the social inclusion strand of the New Audiences Programme In January 2001, Arts Council England commissioned independent consultant Helen Jermyn to research social inclusion work in the arts. This was part of a wider social inclusion research program aiming to gather evidence that could be used to inform policy and advocacy initiatives, to test the appropriateness of different evaluation methods, and to identify and measure the characteristics of successful initiatives. The report and 15 case studies can be downloaded HERE. 3. 'Sharing Practice': A guide to evaluation for people working in the area of social inclusion Sharing Practice was developed by Gerri Moriarty as part of a two-year programme of research commissioned by Arts Council England and funded through the New Audiences Programme, as part of the response to the Government's PAT 10 report Arts and Sports. Sharing Practice was developed in collaboration with 21 organisations working with groups and individuals experiencing social exclusion. The guide describes self-evaluation as a way of reflecting and learning from experience, carried out by those actively engaged in the work. The report can be downloaded HERE
