New measures for assessing cultural projects

The Colombian Ministry of Culture has announced new measures for assessing applications for cultural project funding. Departmental, district and municipal administrations and cultural organisations from all over Colombia can present projects to the Ministry, who will assess them based on the National Cultural Agreement to make culture more accessible to Colombians. By Colombian law, funding will only be given to projects in the public interest. To help improve its selection process and achieve optimum use of resources, the Culture Ministry has strengthened its evaluation systems and distribution measures. As such, a maximum level of funding (CO$50,000,000 per departmental project) has been established, for which two projects per group or individual can submit. Departmental cultural secretariats or mixed foundations may be exempt from the later stipulation if they present a broad range of projects as part of a wider scheme for their municipality. Projects that support or promote Indigenous groups or people with disabilities will be given special consideration. For more information in Spanish, CLICK HERE.
