A major Colombian restorative project has been completed and handed back to the residents of its community. The Spanish Ministry of Culture invested $1,000 million in the restoration of the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Valledupar, which has undergone four centuries of architectural modifications. Work was completed at the conclusion of September and the site was formally handed back to the people of Valledupar at a ceremony this week, attended by the Colombian Minister of Culture, Maria Consolation Araújo Castro; the Governor of Cesar, Hernando Molina Araújo; the Mayor of Valledupar, Ciro Arturo Pupo Castro; the Parish priest of the church, Father Pablo Salas and the Director of Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, Maria Claudia Lopez, among others. The site is a primary heritage area and will be now managed by the local community. For more information in Spanish, visit CLICK HERE.
