More resources to co-finance cultural projects in Colombia

IFACCA/Artshub,
30 October 2004, Colombia

The Colombian Ministry of Culture has announced it will support a wide range of new cultural projects with increased resources throughout 2005. Projects that will be considered must focus on community benefit and outcome, ideally integrate existing organisations, artists or programs within local areas, and seek to promote the value of the cultural sector. Applications for funding assistance will be open to local government and cultural organisations from all over Colombia with priority given to projects that deliver maximum access for Colombians, those that explore the cultural memory of indigenous groups and those that promote opportunities for people with disabilities. Submissions will be eligible for a boost in resources, after the Ministry made some policy adjustments to optimise its provisions. For 2005, maximum funding will be $50,000,000 for each departmental project, with exceptions for certain local government bodies who may present projects that are a product of a municipal agreement or part of a broader policy.
