On the 14-15th September 2006 the IBERESCENA Program Preparatory Technical Meeting took place to establish a financial fund for projects in the performing arts. The meeting was organized by the Culture Division of the General Iberoamerican Secretariat (SEGIB), the Arts Direction and the International Affairs and Cultural Policy Division of the Colombian Ministry of Culture, and the Culture and International Cooperation Divisions of the Colombian Ministry of External Affairs. Performing arts policymakers of public institutions from Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Spain and Portugal attended the meeting. They agreed on a draft version of the Terms of Agreement for the Operation of the Program. Fernando Vicario, Advisor of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECI), also attended. Santiago Jara Ramírez, IFACCA’s new Latin American Coordinator, introduced the Federation and invited the representatives of the non-member countries to raise awareness of its existence and to become members. This initiative was well-received by the participants. Ramiro Osorio, SEGIB’s Culture Division Director, suggested that IFACCA work jointly with the Iberoamerican Organization for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) to increase the Federation’s information resources.
