IBERESCENA PROGRAM PLANS ADVANCED

Performing arts authorities of Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Spain and Venezuela gathered together in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 14 and 15 December to continue the discussions on the Iberescena program, run by the Iberamerican General Secretariat (SEGIB), which aims to promote the mobilization of Iberamerican artists among the member countries. This is a multilateral project of technical and financial cooperation for the development of the performing arts in the region, especially contemporary drama and dance. The project covers mobilization of the arts, co-productions, festivals support, information, education, and artistic creation. Member countries are currently Argentina, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Spain, and Venezuela. Guillermo Heras, renowned theatre director and specialist in Latin American theatre, was appointed coordinator of the program’s Technical Unit. During the first semester of the year 2007 the Fund will be constituted and during the second semester the terms of the public call for applications will be designed.
