The role of evidence in the cultural sector

Taylor and Francis,
06 September 2007, England

The journal Cultural Trends has announced a call for papers for an inaugural conference Challenging myths, researching reality – The role of evidence in the cultural sector for the northern hemisphere Autumn 2007.
The overall theme of the conference is Evidence and the cultural sector. Papers should address the following questions:

  • Is evidence used in developing cultural policy?
  • If so, what kind of evidence? Where does it come from, how is it constructed, and how is it used?
  • What kind of evidence might be needed to shape the future?

Papers are invited that cover the breath of the cultural sector – ranging from funded and high arts, to creative industries - and that support or contradict commonly held assertions that culture changes lives and transforms places. Papers will be considered for publication in forthcoming issues of Cultural Trends.
