Pensions for Artists is a new website funded by the Arts Council, providing artists with up-to-date information about pensions and savings.
The site hopes to address some worrying statistics: 70% of artists are not saving adequately for their future and are at risk of poverty in their retirement. 90% of people working in the arts are unaware of the tax benefits of pensions and other kinds of savings.
Pensions for Artists aims to empower artists to educate themselves. As well as providing guidance sheets, case studies and links, Pensions for Artists includes a ‘Pension Advisor’ that helps users calculate future incomes based on current savings and provides detailed information about retirement planning options.
