Diane Dodd, IFACCA's European liaison officer, attended the annual Round Table of CIRCLE (Cultural Information and Research Centres Liaison in Europe), held in Barcelona, Spain, on 19-20 October 2007.
Devised in collaboration with the European Festival Research Project (EFRP) consortium and hosted by Interarts Foundation, the CIRCLE meeting was aimed at mapping the impact that festivals have on the overall shape of culture within specific territory, analyse the approaches that public authorities have towards festivals and identify gaps in research.
A survey, looking into the festival policies of public authorities in Europe underpinned the debates and was presented in the form of a draft comparative report. A copy of the report can be obtained here.
