Intern – Culture and Diversity programme - RESEARCHER

Commonwealth Foundation,
13 November 2007, England

The intern will work in the Culture and Diversity Programme of the Commonwealth Foundation, one of three current Foundation programmes.
The Culture and Diversity Programme was established in 2005 to promote inter-cultural understanding, offer varied channels of validation and recognition for cultural talents and to encourage both culturally-rooted development and culture-based activities that achieve development goals. The programme includes a number of established schemes, such as the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize and Commonwealth Arts and Crafts Awards, a responsive grant-giving stream and new and emerging areas of work in fields such as film, music and interfaith co-operation. As part of the programme, the Foundation now needs to develop a strategy to support civil society engagement and advocacy on cultural policy issues.
The intern will play a key role in undertaking research, and making recommendations based on the research, that will underpin the development of a strategy to support civil society advocacy in cultural policy issues. This in turn will contribute significantly to the Foundation’s aim of enabling cultural civil society to play a full part in developing and benefiting from cultural policy.
