Diane Dodd, IFACCA’s European Liaison Officer, represented IFACCA's Executive Director, Sarah Gardner, at the International Workshop for Culture Networks and Foundations in Turin, Italy on 16th-17th November 2007. The meeting brought together representatives from 16 foundations that give grants to artistic projects, 13 cultural networks, and other experts and organisers from around the world. The program included separate meetings for networks and foundations. The meeting, organised by Fondazione Fitzcarraldo in cooperation with Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT, the International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts (IETM) and IFACCA, was a follow-up to a similar event that occurred within the framework of the Fórum Cultural Mundial 2006 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The main conclusions of the Rio meeting formed the background to the Turin meeting. Ms Dodd took part in the culture networks meeting in which delegates expressed the desire to collaborate on training and skills development, networking and advocacy. Delegates also concluded that networks should look toward developing greater dialogue with foundations, particularly by emphasising common issues and concerns, and by forging greater collaboration.
