Participation in Salzburg Seminar provides legacies

IFACCA,
09 January 2008, Austria

As the result of an informal partnership with the Salzburg Global Seminar, IFACCA members from around the world were invited to nominate participants for the October 2007 session entitled ‘Cultural Institutions Without Walls: New Models of Arts-Community Interaction’. Of the total 76 delegates that attended (from 29 countries), 13 were awarded places as a result of the IFACCA invitation. They came from Jamaica, Hong Kong SAR, Australia, South Africa, the Palestinian Authority, Uruguay, Bulgaria, Belgium and Colombia. IFACCA’s Executive Director, Sarah Gardner, also attended. The seminar, co-chaired by Alberta Arthurs and Susie Hargreaves, was very well received and created many enduring bonds between participants. The Seminar organisers have since invited Sarah to be the joint-coordinator of a project that would encourage continued collaboration between delegates to develop a proposal (created in the final workshop session of the seminar) to be considered for a mini-grant from the Seminar. We will report further as the proposal reaches the next stage.
