We welcome the Seychelles Heritage Foundation as an affiliate member. The Foundation is a relatively new agency, established by the Seychelles Heritage Foundation Act, 2006.

Under the Act, the Foundation is charged with identifying, conserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Seychelles, and managing a number of cultural heritage sites. The Foundation is managed by a Board of Directors, and the Minister responsible for culture may give general directions to the Board in relation with the performing of functions by the Board.

The Foundation’s mission is 'Conserving, Administering and Putting to the best use the Cultural Heritage Assets of Seychelles'. Its objectives are to:

  • improve an understanding in the past through research and study;
  • maintenance of certain cultural heritage sites and making them alive and accessible the broadest public as possible;
  • encouraging private individuals and/or companies to invest in cultural heritage sites and programmes; and
  • developing an appreciation of Seychelles' cultural legacy in schools.

The Foundation does not yet have a website, but you can view cultural policy information from the Seychelles at the IFACCA Directory: http://www.ifacca.org/directory/country/seychelles/
