With only about 150 days remaining before the opening of the World Summit in Joburg on Tuesday 22 September, preparations are well underway for this special event.
Invitations have been mailed to IFACCA members this week with information on the programme and registration process, together with brochures about the city of Johannesburg. Access to the online registration system will be available from early May at the Summit website www.artsummit.org.
A conference management company, Thebe, and a marketing and communication company, Talawa, have been appointed to handle the local arrangements for the Summit in liaison with Rosie Katz, the Summit Coordinator and Mike Van Graan, the Programme Director. IFACCA and the National Arts Council of South Africa are joint hosts and managers of the event. The Summit is supported by the South African Department of Arts and Culture, the Gauteng Provincial Government Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation and the City of Johannesburg: Directorate of Arts, Culture and Heritage and the Johannesburg Tourism Company. Other funding partners will be announced in May.
