Design Round Table 2012 to convene over a hundred design experts to discuss the internationalisation of design

The National Council for Design and Demos Helsinki are hosting the Design Round Table 2012 to discuss the internationalisation of design at the World Design Capital Pavilion in Helsinki on 8 June. The seminar will convene over a hundred designers and design experts from Finland, Scandinavia and Estonia.

The keynote speakers are Marleen Stikker, Director of the Waag Society, and Jan R. Stavik, Director of the Norwegian Design Council. Marleen Stikker will discuss how the political climate in the Netherlands and the current budget cuts are affecting design. Jan R. Stavik in turn will discuss how the Norwegian Design Council has cooperated with the Norwegian Government to turn NDC into one of the largest design councils in Europe. The themes of the seminar will also be explored by Finnish and foreign experts in panel discussions and workshops.

Participation in the seminar is by invitation only, and only registered participants may attend the workshops. The keynote speeches and panel discussions are open to the public.
