Ticio Escobar took part at the XXXIV Mercosur Meeting of Ministers of Culture at Buenos Aires

Today, at the headquarters of Argentina’s National Culture Secretariat, the XXXIV Mercosur Meeting of Ministers of Culture was opened, chaired by Jorge Coscia, Argentina’s Secretary for Culture.

At the Meeting were present Paraguay’s Minister of Culture, Ticio Escobar; Uruguay’s Minister of Education and Culture, Ricardo Ehrlich; The Secretary of Brazil’s Ministry of Culture, Víctor Ortiz, and representatives from Chile, Peru and Venezuela.

During the meeting, the Pro Tempore Presidency, in charge of Argentina, will present its activities report and an evaluation of the progress made during the first semester of the year. Later on, there will be a debate on the challenges and priorities of Mercosur Cultural Action Plan.

Rocío Ortega, Cabinet’s General Director, and Ana Benitez, Director of International Relations of the National Secretariat for Culture, will accompany Minister Ticio Escobar.

Yesterday, in the same venue, the XXXV Meeting of Mercosur Cultural Regional Coordination Committee took place, where subjects like Mercosur Culture Fund, diversity and cultural industries, heritage (cultural information system and traditional food cartography) and cultural identity, among others, were discussed.

Tomorrow Thursday 7 June, the II Meeting of the Ministers of Social Affairs’ Coordinating Commission will take place at Palacio San Martín, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
