National Culture Meeting in Hermosillo

The meeting was inaugurated by the President of Conaculta, Consuelo Sáizar and Governor Guillermo Padres Elias, with the representatives of culture across the country.
Under the theme Culture and Technology, the National Cultural Meeting was inaugurated in Hermosillo, Sonora, on 18 October with the participation of authorities from cultural administrations in all the 31 states and the Federal District as well as managerial staff of the  National Council for Culture and the Arts (Conaculta).

As part of this meeting, the head of Conaculta, Consuelo Sáizar, announced the forthcoming creation of a cultural radio on FM in Hermosillo with the support of Radio Education to bring the best thinking and the voice of the culture to Sonora.

According to Sáizar, the participants in the meeting are those that design cultural policies, serve the artists, support creators, administrate budgets and engage with civil society institutions.
The director of the Sonoran Institute of Culture, Poly Colonel Gándara, welcomed culture administrators from around the country with whom she said to share "the conviction that there cannot be Mexico without spaces for the development of our artistic vocations."

Meanwhile, the governor of Sonora, Guillermo Padres, recognized the experience and work of Consuelo Sáizar and the support she has been giving as the head of Conaculta for the promotion of culture in the state.

Among the guests at the inauguration were the mayor of Hermosillo, Alejandro López Caballero, and the Secretary of Education and Culture of Sonora, Jorge Luis Ibarra Mendivil.

Also present were officials from various branches of Conaculta such as INAH, INBA, Imcine and National Film Archives, among others.

This Friday in a plenary session the cultural administrators will present their programs and good practices for  improving shared cultural policies.
