The agreement promotes the creation and enrichment of national arts programs in institutions that serve people with disabilities. The partnership between the two institutions is part of the Arts and Disability Congress that will be held on 21, 22 and 23 November in Mexico City.
The National Council for Culture and the Arts (Conaculta) and the Mexican Confederation of Organizations for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, A.C. (Confe) disclose the signing of the Arts and Disability, which will enable both institutions to join efforts and resources to promote national development and enrichment of the arts programs at institutions that serve people with disabilities.
This strategic alliance is part of the XXI Mexican Century Cultural Project undertaken by Conaculta, which has among its objective to promote culture and art to a greater number of citizens and strengthen partnerships with other institutions.
To promote this agreement Confe, Dissimilis, CAP, ECPRESATE and Strum Guitar, with support from Conaculta welcome everyone to the Arts and Disability Congress that will be held on November 21 at the offices of Confe, and on 22 and 23 November in the Soumaya Museum, Plaza Carso.
The meeting is aimed at citizens or institutions working or wishing to work with people with disabilities, music teachers and general public.
Teaching methods will be developed for national and international arts education in music, theater, dance and painting. Also, several international instructors will participate from Norway, Guatemala, Poland and Mexico.
The Mexican Confederation of Organizations for Persons with Intellectual Disability works since 1978 to improve the quality of life, promote human rights and social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in a dignified and fair manner.
In its National Training Center, Confe serves people with intellectual disabilities offering neurodevelopmental therapy to infants and children, and training in various workshops to adults so that later they can integrate to a formal job with the same rights and obligations as any another worker.
