Report on the Contribution of Culture to the French Economy

Ministry of Culture and Communication,
11 February 2014, France

The French Ministries of Economy and Culture have jointly commissioned a report on the impact of cultural activities to the country's economy. The resulting document focuses on three themes: culture and growth, culture at national level and the development of the digital sector. The report was prepared by members of the General Inspection of Finances (IGF) and the General Inspection of Culture (IGAC) and provides data proving that culture contributes to 3.2% of the French national wealth and employs 670,000 people, an added value equivalent to that of agriculture and the food industries.

The report and a video (in French) of Aurélie Filippetti, French Minister of Culture, are available on the website of the Ministry of Culture and Communication.
