Senior Adviser, Cultural Statistics

The Senior Adviser, Cultural Statistics has a key role in advancing the Ministry’s policy research programme, to improve measurement and reporting of the state of the cultural sector and its contribution to New Zealand’s social and economic goals.

Working with the Senior Adviser, Cultural Policy Research, you will have a lead role in advancing the Ministry’s cultural statistics and indicators work.

Key elements of the programme regarding cultural statistics and indicators include to:

  • further review, develop, and on-going reporting of national cultural indicators;
  • analyse and report on relevant administrative and survey data
  • develop, support and provide expert advice to ensure that data collection approaches, analysis and
  • reporting appropriately meet Ministry, government and broader cultural sector information needs
  • provide assistance and expertise in cultural-related datasets and conduct or oversee  data analysis to support programme evaluation and policy development work

The Senior Adviser, Cultural Statistics will have excellent knowledge of survey research methods, management of datasets, and primary and secondary data analysis and reporting.  They will have a good understanding of statistical and economic concepts and analysis including trend analysis.  The Senior Adviser will have a high standard of written and oral communication, with the demonstrated ability to present information well to a variety of audiences.

The position reports to the Manager, Cultural Sector Performance Unit.
