Today, Wednesday 9 April 2014, Creative Scotland launches a bold plan and funding approach which aims to unlock the potential and support the ambition of the arts, screen and creative industries.
These developments represent continued progress in the delivery of our Board’s promise of change made at the end of 2012.
Janet Archer, Creative Scotland’s Chief Executive, said:
“Today marks an important moment for the arts, screen and creative industries in Scotland.
“I’m delighted to launch the 10 year plan which sets out a vision and a set of clear ambitions for arts and creativity in Scotland.
“I’m particularly pleased that the plan has effectively been ‘crowd sourced’ bringing together more than 1000 voices from across the arts, screen and creative industries.
“Coupled with the launch of our Regular Funding Programme, which will deliver stable, three year funding for organisations, today is the beginning of a new phase for Creative Scotland.
“We are launching an ambitious plan and at the same time we are bringing greater clarity about our role and our funding approach. In addition, we have worked hard to make sure we have the right people, knowledge and expertise to deliver the plan.
“Our plan is bold and it is vital that we work in partnership with people and organisations across Scotland to deliver its ambition. ”
Anyone interested in finding out more about the plan and the new funding approach can do so at our new website or at one of our forthcoming information sessions taking place across the country over the next three months.
The 10 Year Plan
Unlocking Potential, Embracing Ambition: a shared plan for the arts, screen and creative industries, 2014-2024 is available on our website in both full and summary versions.
The plan follows a period of extensive consultation and the contribution of almost 1000 people. The consultation took the form of open sessions across Scotland in spring and autumn 2013; a public, on-line consultation; face to face dialogue; consultation with partners; and consultation with a specialist reference group representing different areas of practice from across the arts, screen and creative industries.
The plan sets out five ambitions that will frame the work of Creative Scotland over the next ten years, underpinned by a set of 15 priorities that will shape our work over the next three years.
