Deputy Director (Corporate Communications)

As Deputy Director, you will develop and implement communication strategies for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth. This will include developing strategic communication plans for MCCY and driving these plans through media relations, social media, event management and other public relations activities. You will work with the rest of the corporate communications team to plan and integrate the Ministry’s messages across all the communication platforms. You will also play a key role in co-ordinating social media efforts across MCCY agencies. As an experienced communication specialist who has in-depth understanding of PR, marcom and corporate affairs, the incumbent will lead and supervise a team to execute the communication plans and manage the administrative matters of the division.

The incumbent reports to the Director of Corporate Communication and will work closely with the Director to oversee the following:

a) Oversee and supervise the communications team in implementing media and marketing communications plans across all platforms/ channels, including digital.
b) Media relations, including handling media queries and producing in-depth media and public sentiments analysis reports.
c) Providing communications support to political office-holders and communications counsel to the divisions d) Facilitate inter-agency coordination of communication plans
e) Manage external stakeholder engagements, including with MCCY statutory boards and private and non-governmental agencies
f) Oversee and execute specific corporate communications projects in the areas of new media, branding, collateral development and internal communications.

Requirements

• Good university degree in Mass Communication or related fields
• At least 10 years’ relevant experience in corporate communication and/or journalism, with at least 4 years being in a supervisory position.
• Strong experience in social media platforms
• Good grasp of government policies and current affairs, and possess political and cultural sensitivities
• Excellent writing, communication and project management skills
