Assistant Manager/Manager (Research)

You will play a key role in supporting evidence-based formulation, implementation and evaluation of policies in the Ministry. You will conduct research and analyses to interpret data trends and describe current environment, identify challenges and recommend strategic options for the Ministry. Research will undertake primary research, including the conceptualisation of research studies, methods and design, and the analyses and interpretation of data. Research will also cover research literature reviews and horizon scanning of pertinent issues and developments globally and locally in the social, political, technological and economic domains that could impact the Ministry’s operating environment, including citizens’ changing needs, stakeholder expectations, and modes of public service delivery.

Your responsibilities will cover the following specific areas:-

  • Culture – Areas of research could include the impact of arts, heritage and sporting institutions on Singapore's economy and society; sustainable growth strategies for these sectors, and benchmarking of cultural and sports policies in other countries.
  • Community development and engagement – Areas of research could include social, political, technological and economic dimensions of community development and social capital; effective facilitation of philanthropy and the third sector, and social engagement needs of youth.

You should be confident in undertaking secondary and primary research, including conceptualising research studies, performing statistical analyses, interpreting quantitative and qualitative data, deriving policy recommendations from your analyses, as well as presenting your research findings and recommendations. You should also be comfortable working with domain experts and researchers on collaborative studies.

Requirements

  • Good university degree in Statistics or Social Sciences
  • Team player
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and presentation skills
  • Quantitative data analysis skills
  • At least 2-3 years of relevant working experience
  • Relevant experience in Government agencies/ public organisations
