After the meeting, the Minister Claudia Barattini said she expects the new ministry will be regarded as an open space, to "listen and consider the views of the people.

In the framework of "Your Voice Creates Culture," Culture Minister Claudia Barattini, held a second meeting with representatives of emblematic cultural centers to talk about the progress of the draft ley that will create the Ministry of Culture.

At the meeting, the head of CNCA said the participation of various cultural actors is fundamental to the design of the new institutions.

“We believe that the focus is to ensure that all citizens see and feel that the new Ministry is an open space. We dream of the possibility of creating an institution to assume its tasks creatively and consider the views of citizens, and this plan participation is the prelude to it, "she said.

The directors of cultural centres that took part in the meeting included: Felipe Mella of Balmaceda 1215 Cultural Centre; Arturo Navarro of the Mapocho Cultural Center; Cristóbal Gumuciom of the Matucana 100 Cultural Center; Ricardo Brodsky of the Museum of Memory; Alejandra Wood of the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center GAM; Claudia Zaldívar of the Museum of Solidarity Salvador Allende; Emilio Lamarca of de la Casa E de Valparaíso and Maria Fernanda Garcia of the Violeta Parra Museum.

After the meeting, Arturo Navarro expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to make suggestions on the draft bill and said "It all left a good impression, because the Minister is very receptive and  there is a large consensus on the central axes: citizen participation, decentralization and trasversality ".

Meanwhile, Claudia Zaldivar said " participation and inclusion are important elements of this process that opens the law to the review of various sectors of the arts and of those who are in charge of important cultural institutions in the country. The emphasis on policies of development in culture is very relevant because it creates an important platform in this area, both as access and participation as well as creation. "

Last Monday Barattini Minister held a similar meeting with other representatives of centers and cultural institutions.

The first phase of this program was conducted between April and August and included 26 Regional Meetings (citizen dialogues), web forum (virtual window) Hearings with the Minister and the Councils of Civil Society (Book, Music and Audiovisual).

The second phase of the plan is currently developing which includes the Consultation of Indigenous Peoples, eight sectoral committees, 17 regional forums and 12 Sectorial Forums. Once this phase concludes, the inputs collected will be systematized and integrated into the proposed new law that will emanate from the CNCA.
