Talent Pathways Manager - New Zealand Film Commission

New Zealand Film Commission,
11 January 2015, New Zealand

Fixed term contract:  up to 2 years

Wellington

The New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) is committed to supporting and encouraging talented New Zealand filmmakers, growing economic activity, increasing the number of people seeing New Zealand films here and overseas, and ensuring original, satisfying and culturally significant films are made. The NZFC also administers the government’s incentives, helps negotiate co-production treaties and certifies co-productions and New Zealand films for tax purposes.

The film industry is built on talent and our Talent Development & Relationships team needs yours.  The team focuses on finding, fostering and connecting outstanding NZ screen talent.  You’ll join a small team that’s passionate about what it does and the people it supports.

The Talent Pathways Manager is an exciting new role that’s tied to the NZFC’s desire to encourage emerging filmmakers to consider and pursue a range of possible steps towards feature filmmaking.  You’ll play a key role equipping emerging filmmakers with strong knowledge to make great choices.  You’ll lead on the NZFC’s existing funding structures for short form work and developing emerging filmmaking talent.  And you’ll create and nurture relationships, facilitate introductions and opportunities, and help promote the next generation of outstanding New Zealand filmmakers.

We’re looking for someone ready to hit the ground running.  Ideally you’ll have a background in talent development, preferably in a prior role/s supporting emerging filmmakers, perhaps in a training or agency/management capacity.  From your previous experience you’ll bring excellent industry contacts that can add value to the New Zealand film industry.  You’ll be creatively driven with strong communication skills and experienced in managing a demanding workload through initiative and effective prioritising.

Above all else, what’s key is that you’re a team player, ready to work in a fast-paced environment and passionate about taking New Zealand talent to the world.

Although based in Wellington, the role requires regular domestic and occasional international travel.

This role could ideally suit someone wanting to spend time working with the NZFC before returning to the film industry.
