The National Secretariat of Culture (SNC) will hold a press conference to introduce the first Music Festival in Indigenous Languages in Latin America, to be held in May in Asuncion, and the city of Formosa in Argentina. The presentation will be carried out by the Minister of Culture, Mabel Causarano, together with the Head of the Secretariat of Linguistic Policy, Ladislaa Alcaraz, among other authorities.
The Festival will be an art experience and occasion to gain knowledge of our Latin American identity and publishing and music production in native languages. This is an initiative that aims to capture the ancestral stories in the continent, through their artistic expressions in these languages.
The Argentina edition is scheduled for Friday 1 and Saturday May 2 in Formosa, organized and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Education of the province of the same name. Then, on Sunday May 3, from 18, will be replicated identically at the International Book Fair.
The first Festival of Music in Indigenous Languages in Latin America is part of the reactivation of the Argentine-Paraguayan Cultural Movement (ARPA), based on the Bilateral Plan agreement between the CNS and the Ministry of Culture of Argentina, and tune with the Mercosur Cultural whose guidelines encourage the articulation between linguistic policies and cultural policies. The Festival is also conducted through the Ibermúsicas program, which promotes Latin American music and whose fundamental contribution enables specialized musical productions inserted into new circuits festivals and markets.
The program includes, among other activities, presentation of experiences and circulation of books on Latin American indigenous languages. Participants include Ema Cuañeri (Ambassador of the QOM People), who will present her book NA QOM. Mirna Paulo will present "A different view of who we are,"( Una mirada diferente de quienes somos”, ) published by Editorial Ciccus. In addition, Mardonio Carballo and Alonso Arreola will present "The Lost Hours" (“Las Horas Perdidas”) that includes a book, a CD and a DVD.
