CONACULTA’s José Luis Martínez Hernández appointed to IFACCA board

IFACCA is delighted to announce the appointment to its board of Ambassador José Luis Martínez Hernández, Director General for International Affairs of the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CONACULTA), Mexico. 

Mr Martínez Hernández has worked as Deputy Director General of International Affairs of the Executive Office for the Celebrations for the Bicentennial of the Independence and the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution. In the Mexican Foreign Service, he has held the post of Ambassador of Mexico in the Republic of Hungary, concurrently accredited to Bulgaria and Croatia, Consul General at Berlin, Germany, and Counsellor of the Embassy of Mexico in France. Likewise, he has served as Director General of Protocol and Deputy Director for Cultural Affairs for the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. 

In other fields of the public sector, he was Advisor of the General Director of the Mexican Institute for Social Security, Director General of the Political Documentation Center of the Secretariat of the Interior, as well as Technical Secretary of the National Council for Culture and the Arts and Executive Secretary of the Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA). In addition, he has served as President of the Directive Committee of the U.S.-Mexico Foundation for Culture, sponsored by FONCA, Banamex Cultural Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation. 

Mr Martínez Hernández has been awarded with many honors, including the Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honor and Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters (France), Commander of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Italy, Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, Commander of the Royal Swedish Order of the Polar Star, Commander of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, and Order of the Horseman of Madara (Bulgaria).
