Arts Council of Sri Lanka joins IFACCA

We are pleased to welcome the Arts Council of Sri Lanka as a new National Member of the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies.

President of Arts Council of Sri Lanka, Chandraguptha Thenuwara has highlighted the importance of membership for the Council, citing that “it is a great opportunity and privilege to join IFACCA. No one can survive in isolation. Being together is stronger. To hear and learn from peers around the world is necessary. It is very important to strengthen and develop international connections and relationships with the creative arts communities, organizations and agencies worldwide.” 

The Arts Council of Sri Lanka was formed in the year 1952 with the aim to develop knowledge, understanding and practice of the fine arts of Sri Lanka; to increase the accessibility of works of art to the public in Sri Lanka; to preserve, promote and encourage the development of Sri Lankan indigenous arts and crafts; to improve the quality and standards of arts of Sri Lanka; and to advise and co-operate with, Government departments, local authorities and other bodies on the arts of Sri Lanka.
