Andrew Holland, who has headed the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia since 2012, will be stepping down from the post at the end of April 2017. After a total of 12 years working for Pro Helvetia, Andrew Holland has decided to leave the Arts Council for personal reasons.

Andrew Holland assumed the post of director of Pro Helvetia in November 2012 following the entry into force of the organisation’s new legal basis. He successfully steered the foundation through the reorientation phase and the parliamentary process for the Message on Culture 2016-2020. After dedicating twelve years to Pro Helvetia, Andrew Holland has for personal reasons taken the decision to leave the foundation at the end of April 2017 before the process of preparing the next Message on Culture commences. He will be available to the foundation until the end of April 2017 to ensure a smooth transition.

Andrew Holland joined Pro Helvetia in 2004 as head of the dance division. Between 2009 and 2012 he was responsible for the cultural promotion department and was also deputy director. As director, Andrew Holland contributed significantly to the successful implementation of the new legally defined tasks such as the Swiss presence at international biennials and developing the promotion of aspiring artists. Andrew Holland encouraged the foundation to broaden its scope to include design and digital media, as well as business and innovation promotion; he supported cultural diversity in the regions and also initiated the expansion of the network of offices abroad to Russia and Latin America.

Pro Helvetia regrets Andrew Holland’s departure and thanks him for his substantial contribution to the continuing development of the foundation. We wish him every success in his future professional endeavours.
