Support for public funding of the arts weakens, Australia Council survey reveals

Australians are becoming increasingly ambivalent about the importance of arts to society – and are less likely to want the public purse to pay for it.

New data from the Australia Council – the federal government's major arts funding and advisory body – shows a sharp drop in public support for government funding of the arts.
