New Affiliate Member: The State Secretary for Culture of Mato Grosso Brazil

We are pleased to welcome the State Secretary for Culture of Mato Grosso, Brazil, as an Affiliate Member of the Federation. The State Secretary for Culture is one of the governmental institutions focused on the management of culture in Mato Grosso.  The objectives and guidelines of the State Plan of Culture is to promote culture in a broad way, through the promotion and dissemination of public announcements, prizes and public selections for the stimulation of cultural projects and processes, the granting of financial and fiscal support to cultural agents, the adoption of economic subsidies, of public and private funds, among other incentives, as well as to protect and promote cultural diversity, artistic creation and its manifestations and the cultural expressions, individual or collective, of all ethnic groups and their social derivations, recognizing the notion of culture throughout its territory and guaranteeing the multiplicity of its values and formations.

The State of Mato Grosso is home to over 40 different Indigenous groups most in protected areas such as the famous Xingu Park.  The State Secretary for Culture, as part its policies, is focused on promoting and strengthening the cultural heritage of its Indigenous people.  The new points of culture network articulated with federal government was created to support 35 new associations and increase exchange between its Indigenous people.
