GAM Cultural Center promotes the conversation on technologies and the arts

Summary

Under the idea of #GAMConecta (#GAMConnects) the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center in Chile (GAM) brought together different art professionals of the field of the performing arts in order to promote the conversation of technologies and the arts with national and international peers. The seminar took place on June 21st and 22nd and included guest speakers from Germany, US and Argentina among other national experts. All the information about the panels including presentations and videos may be downloaded (in Spanish) at www.gam.cl/conecta

GAM Seminars discuss on premises of the field of management and the development of cultural organizations, in particular in terms of engaging, developing and achieving the loyalty of audiences as stated in our mission as a Cultural Center.

In 2018 the emphasis has been aligned with GAM's curatorial aspects of action: creative exchange and audience experiences in the new technological era. It is not possible to speak of audience development strategies without broadening the spectrum to different components that intersect with the new paradigms of the artistic experience. For this first version of the Seminar GAM had guests from countries such as Argentina (Carlos Amallo from Trampolín), Germany (Dirk Nelder from Platform Shift+) and the United States (Themis Gomes from Cennarium).

The issues of GAM’s "I st International Seminar on Cultural Management" focused on exchange of artistic works and new technologies, raising questions such as: What role do new technologies play in the current models of cultural participation? Who are our new audiences and what are the premises in the millenial phenomenon? How have mobile devices influenced the appropriation of cultural experience? What ways of distribution does the internet allow us in terms of artistic exchange? How have the notions of experience and culture shifted the habits of consumers generating new measurements of experience?

GAM is aligned with these issues in order to renew its commitment to experiences with audiences and innovation in management discourses. This opens new ways of participation.
