Europe Chapter of the Federation meets in Liverpool, England

The Europe Chapter of the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) gathered in Liverpool from 10-11 October 2018 for its fourteenth regional meeting, co-hosted by Arts Council England.  

The meeting coincided with the 10-year anniversary of Liverpool being European Capital of Culture (2008) and included a presentation on the legacy and impact of the European Capitals of Culture, the European Year of Cultural Heritage, arts and place-making, collaborative leadership and local participation. During the meeting members discussed issues of equity, access and inclusion; diversity in cultural leadership; participatory governance; and the role of government. 

The meeting was attended by 21 senior representatives from 14 National Member institutions in the region, including Croatia, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Scotland, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Wales. The Chapter also welcomed senior representatives from governmental Affiliate Member institutions in the region, including the Commonwealth Foundation, Nordisk Kulturfond, Kultura Nova Foundation (Croatia) and Dutch Culture (Netherlands); as well as members of the IFACCA Board representing National Member institutions in Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand and Solomon Islands, following their attendance at the 50th meeting of the IFACCA Board from 8-9 October 2018 in Manchester, England.   

The next meeting of the Europe Chapter will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia alongside the 8th World Summit on Arts and Culture in March 2019.
