On June 25, 2019, I will be embarking on my second, four-year term at the helm of the Council, and I will be doing so fully aware of what a privilege it is to serve society and what responsibility I and our teams are entrusted with—to better understand the complex realities of our vast country. Our unique role as a federal arts funding organization requires a keen understanding of the specific contexts in which the artists and organizations that request our support evolve.
