The effects of the coronavirus on the culture sector go far beyond the initially limited period of 2 months of the COVID Culture Regulation. For example, according to the Federal Council's decision of April 29, 2020, all major events with more than 1,000 people will be prohibited at least until the end of August 2020. In addition, numerous cultural institutions will remain closed until at least June 8, 2020.
For these reasons, the Federal Council decided on May 13, 2020 to extend the COVID Culture Regulation until September 20.
