Each IFACCA Regional Group has a Regional Focal Point. This is a National Member institution of the Federation that liaises with members in the region and organises a meeting of members or other joint initiative. The role of Regional Focal Point is for a fixed period and is open to all National Members on a rotating basis.
The Secretary of Culture of the Nation, Argentina is our current Regional Focal Point for the Americas. It assumed the role in March 2019 during the 8th World Summit on Arts and Culture, as the confirmed hosts of the next Americas Chapter Meeting and Americas Cultural Summit 2019. The official RFP representative is Mr Andrés Gribnicow, Secretary for Culture and Creativity, Secretary of Culture of the Nation.
The Secretary of Culture of the Nation, Argentina will host the Americas Cultural Summit 2019 in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 27-29 June 2019, in partnership with the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA). The Americas Cultural Summit will take place alongside the Creative Industries Market of Argentina (MICA) and will begin on Thursday 27 June with a day retreat at Villa Ocampo – including a meeting of the Americas Chapter – exclusive to National Members of the Federation.
The Americas Cultural Summit will bring together senior government authorities, public funding bodies, institutions and practitioners from the arts and culture sector across the region to continue conversations started at the inaugural Americas Cultural Summit held in Ottawa, Canada in May 2018. The programme will explore the theme of Cultural Change in a Diverse Territory, focussing on the profound changes that continue to affect cultural models and practices.
