In the context of the 10th anniversary of the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD), the 15th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005 Convention) and the 40th anniversary of the UNESCO Recommendation Concerning the Status of the Artist (1980 Recommendation), UNESCO will host a special edition of ResiliArt on 21 October 2020.
This high-level ResiliArt debate will be moderated by Ms Valériane Gauthier, a professional journalist from France 24, and feature renowned artists and cultural professionals from around the world. This unique online event will include pre-recorded testimonials from individuals whose relentless efforts brought about the adoption of the 1980 Recommendation, the entry into force of the 2005 Convention and the creation of the IFCD: Pascal Rogard (France), Nina Obuljen Koržinek (Croatia), Vera El Khoury Lacoeuilhe (Saint-Lucia), Katerina Stenou (UNESCO) and Pascal Lamy (France). This will be combined with a high-level live debate with artists and cultural professionals in order to discuss the past and future of creativity as a pillar of UNESCO’s work: Anupama Sekhar, Director of the Culture Department at the Asia-Europe Foundation (India), Nabil Ayouch, television and film director, producer and writer (Morocco), Ferne Downey, actress and President of the FIA (Canada), Didier Awadi, rapper and musician (Senegal), Shirley Campbell Barr, writer and poet (Costa Rica), and a representative from a digital platform.
