The UNESCO Office for Eastern Africa invites organizations working in Somalia to submit a proposal to undertake education, advocacy and outreach activities for the protection and promotion of Somali cultural heritage, including translation of three UNESCO Conventions in the field of Culture into Somali language, development of a heritage education programme based on the UNESCO World Heritage in Young Hands Kit and tested in pilot projects in Mogadishu and Galkayio, organization of advocacy and awareness-raising workshops and activities related to the protection of cultural heritage and heritage education, in order to raise awareness of various stakeholders (governmental and non-governmental bodies as well as the general public on the importance of protecting cultural heritage and opportunities to promote culture for sustainable development.
